Christian Marriage Ministry has two different weekends to experience.
Each weekend is held in a small gathering and is limited to around twenty
couples. The Growth Weekend occurs five or six times a year. The Faith
Weekend occurs once, around October, each year. We require attendance to
a Growth Weekend before attending a Faith Weekend.
Some frequently asked questions are:
Where is the weekend held and what time does it start and end?
CMM Weekends
are currently held at the St. Louis Marriott West. The weekends start
with registration at 6:30PM on Friday. The weekend ends around 4:30PM
on Sunday.
What happens during the weekend?
The entire weekend is a series of presentations
and reflection periods. First you will hear a presentation followed by
a reflection question, based on the presentation just heard. At that
time of reflection, you separate, then you join each other in your room
for a time of sharing on the reflection question. This occurs throughout
the weekend with each presentation building from the previous one. It
could be compared to a jigsaw puzzle, starting out with a piece at a
time and given all the pieces, the completed picture will be seen. Many
couples have told us their relationship has been rejuvenated. Ultimately
the goal is to build Christ centered relationships and families.
We live a short distance away. Can we go home to sleep and come back in the
morning?
No, this weekend is a time for you to focus on each other without
interference from the children, jobs, and pets. Leaving the weekend for any reason
would only be a distraction to what you could be receiving as a couple.
You deserve this time together before you return to those things once
the weekend is over.
Does the weekend only cost $50.00?
Near the end of the weekend you will
be given an opportunity to make a donation to cover the cost of the weekend.
The primary expense of the weekend is our contract with the hotel for
two nights lodging, 5 meals for each person, conference room facility,
and late check-out on Sunday. We also have administrative cost for supplies
and equipment. CMM is an all volunteer ministry and does not have any
paid staff. The weekend cost per couple can vary depending the number
of couples attending a particular weekend. However that cost will probably
be $350-400 per couple after the registration fee. We are a faith ministry
and trust that the Lord will bless CMM and
provide the finances for His ministry to continue as it has since 1985.
CMM is non-profit Christian organization incorporated in the State Of
Missouri and is not affiliated with any other organization or church.
My
spouse has moved out. Is there any hope that a weekend could save our
marriage?
CMM was created to help good marriages become better. However
we know of many situations where couples have come to the weekend
with divorce papers filed and "together decided" to try this to
save their marriage. This weekend "does work" for those marriages
in need of repair. Please remember this is not a problem solving
weekend. One of the subjects taught on the weekend is couple communication.
This is one of the tools that can be used to problem solve after
the weekend is over.
Who are the presenters for this weekend?
The weekend is presented
by highly trained volunteer couples that teach Biblical principles
on marriage. Each weekend has a different group of presenters. They
will be sharing with you their joys and struggles in living their
Christian marriage.
Will I have to share with the group my problems?
No, CMM is not group
therapy or counseling in any way. This weekend is a very private,
intimate experience for couples who want their relationship to grow
closer and stay closer.
